2. KUDAT Aerodrome and Town
An operational secondary base for Bombers and Fighters with dispersal facilities consisting of both s/d revetments and dispersal bays. The runway is temporarily unserviceable (photos 24 Dec 44, first vertical coverage), and there are two largo personnel and supply areas.
Location - 116°51’E 06°53'N.
Runway - NNE - SSW - 5100' x 320' (true bearing 18° additional 310' et NORTH end and 260'" at SOUTH end ma y be used for landings and take offs. Extension would provide runway of 6200'.
Dispersal - There are 16,000' of 90' wide dispersal lanes forming a triple loop on NW side of strip. There are 5 80' Bomber revetments and 2 55' Fightor revetments
Roads -• The KUDAT-SIKUAT road is a 7' wide secondary road and appears well used.
Piers - The main Pier at SOUTH side of town is "T" - shaped, consisting of a 180' x 12' ramp leading, to a 140' x 35' head. A 160' x 45' building is built crossways on the ramp. There are 2 small piers at the town area, 2 near the workshops adjacent to the runway and one near the a/d operations building.
Ship Building - A lugger is under construction on a sand bar 520' NW of the base of the pier.
JESSELT0N AERODROME and AREA
Location - 116°02'E 05°56'N, approx 2.5 miles SW of JESSELTON.
Runways - Two in number, both temporarily unserviceable due to bombing (6 Jan).
Dispersal - There are 16,000' of 35' wide taxi lanes. There are 12 Bomber and 2 fighter revetments.
Radio - 2 European type buildings 900' WEST of the NORTH end of No 1 Runway are probably a Radio Station,
