The Fall of Singapore No. 3

Since the day we were fighting our spirits have fell

And although it's not showing it's easy to tell

After long days of fighting our chances were rare

For something was missing the boys of the air

-o-

But still the boys keep slamming the shells up the bore

In attempt to keep enemy close to the shore

The big guns kept barking, till all shells had gone

So it was left to the Infantry to try and carry on

-o-

They took up positions, our front line was swell

With the carriers support, they fought on like hell

They did their best in spite of the heat

They kept fighting hard, but they knew they were beat

-o-

Although we have lost, the people of England never knew

Our hardships and trouble that we were going through

The lives that were lost on an island that was sold

People of England you'll know when you are told

-o-

God bless all my pals who fell in the line

Although they have gone, their spirits will shine

So Tommies on the island who have lost pals of their own

Please think of them always when you get home.
